Russian scientists have created alloy for the implant similar in composition to human bone

Scientists from Tula State University (TSU) have developed powder production technology

an alloy for implants, which is similar in density, elasticity and other characteristics to human bone. The metals included in its composition do not oxidize and are not toxic, explains Kasimtsev.

The developers analyzed the structurehuman bone and its main characteristics. So, they found out that this element of the body has a certain density. Previous metal alloys did not meet this parameter. They had a greater density, which made them more difficult to implant into the body, and sometimes destroyed on their own under load. In medical practice, there have been cases when implants destroyed human bone.

According to him, titanium, niobium, and zirconium are used in the alloy, which differ greatly in physical properties.

They are refractory - from 1.7 to 3 thousand. degrees, and different in density, during crystallization after smelting, their separation occurs - the heavy ones go down, the lighter ones end up at the top. Powder technology avoids heterogeneity below their melting point.

Now scientists offer powder technologyalloy production. The implant will become porous in structure, like bone, and just as plastic. The composition of the new technology is designed in such a way that the prosthesis will not be toxic and will not oxidize.

The new technology, according to Kasimtsev, is focused on industrial production.
