Russian radio amateur accidentally intercepts a secret signal from a spacecraft

Russian radio amateur Dmitry Pashkov discovered data transmission from a secret space object. He

suggests that the signal in low-Earth orbit was left by the first reusable Chinese spacecraft. Its launch took place in September 2020.

The radio amateur traced the object once more anddetected data transmission at 2280.000 MHz and 4000 kHz channel width. He noted that the signal is quite stable, but intermittently. From this, he concluded that the signal could have left the satellite - these devices usually have stabilization systems. However, only further observations will help to test this hypothesis.

“I started searching for signals from this device at allpossible ranges. Seven days later, my automatic signal search system, while processing four terabytes of data, gave me a notification about the detection of two unidentified signals emanating from a released object in two different flyover orbits. The radio amateur may have intercepted the signalChina's reusable experimental spacecraft. A report from the state newspaper Xinhua said the launch was successful and that a Long 2F March rocket had sent the spacecraft into orbit from the Juquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert. However, journalists were unable to find out the exact launch time and what technologies the device tested.

In previous reports, the Chinese authorities have stated thatplan to use reusable ground-orbit spacecraft. Officials from China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation added that they have completed several ground tests of engines and other components of the device.
