Russians won the world's first computer chess Olympiad

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) held the world's first Computer Chess Olympiad.

The winner was the Russian team.

The Russians beat the Indian team in online competitions. In the first match between the teams they recorded a draw (3: 3), and in the second the Russian chess players won with a score of 4.5: 1.5.

The Russian team that brought victory to the national team included Polina Shuvalova, Andrei Esipenko and Alexandra Goryachkina.

The world's first online chess Olympiad was decidedhold due to the coronavirus pandemic. Offline meetings are still considered unsafe. At the virtual Olympiad, 40 teams were divided into four groups. The matches were played in a round robin system. Each team ended up playing nine matches.
