The semiconductor market collapsed by 21.3% - China suffered the most, while Europe and Japan almost did not feel the crisis

The semiconductor market contracted sharply year-on-year in the first quarter of 2023. But in March, sales increased compared to February.

In the reporting period, sales of semiconductorproducts amounted to $119.5 million in monetary terms. Compared to the last quarter of 2022, sales fell by 8.7%. But when compared with the first quarter of 2022, the market collapsed by 21.3%.

This situation is explained by the cyclicity andmacroeconomic barriers. At the same time, SIA notes that in March, compared to February, sales increased by 0.3%. In particular, by 2.7% and 1.2% in Europe and China, respectively. Sales fell 1.1% in Japan and 3.5% in America. In other regions the market increased by 2.6%.

If we compare the figures in March 2023 withMarch 2022, China suffered the most, where the semiconductor market shrank by 34.1% or $5.73 billion. In America, sales fell by 16.4% or $1.89 billion. Japan and Europe hardly felt the crisis. Their sales of semiconductor products decreased by only 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively.
