A group of researchers from Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk and Vladivostok has developed a drug delivery system for
Like molecules that cells findtumors, experts used DNA aptamers, affinity and specific for cancer cells of ascitic (liquid) tumors. These are functional analogs of protein antibodies, which are synthetic single-stranded DNA or RNA oligonucleotides that can bind to specific targets.
DNA aptamers allow targetedtherapy, the authors of the development explain: medicinal components find tumor cells and do not affect healthy tissues. The second key component of therapy: magnetic nanodisks. These tiny components, linked to a targeted delivery system, are used to magneto-mechanically destroy tumor cells by applying low-frequency magnetic fields.

The researchers tested their development onmouse model. A series of experiments showed that such a smart nanoscalpel only targets tumor target cells. At the same time, exposure to a low-frequency magnetic field significantly reduced the number of cancer cells in ascitic tumors in mice even after a single application.
Malignant ascites or liquid tumor is oneof intractable cancers. With it, fluid with cancer cells accumulates in the abdominal or chest cavity and creates an environment favorable for the tumor. Existing methods of therapy for such an oncological disease are ineffective and highly toxic. The researchers believe that targeted therapy with magnetic nanoparticles will increase the effectiveness of treatment and reduce the number of side effects.
