Download iOS 9 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

iOS 9 is out! As promised, Apple has released iOS 9, the next mobile operating system

generation for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

This update was presented at the Worlddeveloper conference in June 2015. iOS 9 includes a number of new features, such as a proactive assistant, an updated Notes app, a new News app, transportation directions in maps, as well as performance optimizations and improved battery life with the new Low Power Mode feature.

The iOS 9 update is compatible with the following iOS devices and is available as a free update:

  • iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s
  • iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad 3 and iPad 2
  • iPad mini 3, Retina iPad mini, 1st gen iPad mini
  • 6th generation iPod touch, 5th generation iPod touch

Preparing for upgrade

Jailbreak

If you have a jailbroken device and don't want to part with your favorite jailbreak tweaks and apps, we recommend avoiding upgrading to iOS 9 until iOS 9 jailbreak is released.

Upgrade to iOS 9

You can download and install iOS 9 over Wi-Fi.You can also update your device to iOS 9 using iTunes by connecting it to your computer. We will also provide direct download links as soon as they are available. If you haven't received the update over the air (OTA), then try updating using iTunes or install it manually by downloading the iOS 9 IPSW file for your device.

The final build number of iOS 9 is 13A5344, which is different from the iOS 9 GM build number. Thus, users who installed iOS 9 GM will also receive the update over the air (OTA).

If you upgraded to iOS 9 and receivederror message “Software Update Failed“, then you can try updating the device using iTunes or wait a while until the load on the Apple servers subsides.

If you have not received the update “viaair” (OTA), then you can download the corresponding iOS 9 IPSW file for your device from the links provided below. To find your model number, look at the back of your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and download the corresponding file.
