Created “edible” anthrax vaccine for animals

According to the scientific publication npj Vaccines, experts have created an “edible” vaccine against Siberian

ulcers for animals. This achievement is especially important because scientists were able to protect weakened bacterial spores from the gastric juice of cows.

“We are talking about the same weakened strain of the Siberianulcers, which is used for injection. In our case, the bacteria are wrapped in a gel shell, which protects them from the aggressive effects of gastric juice,” – said Texas A&M University spokesman and veterinarian Jamie Felix.

It should be noted that at this stage, scientistshave tested the new vaccine in rodents, but they are already full of optimism about the future that awaits their invention. As for the anthrax itself, we recall that this is the name of an extremely dangerous infectious disease, which, although it can infect a person, most often still affects wild and domestic animals. As a result of infection, they are faced with the rapid development of severe fever, provoking death already on the second or third day after the onset of the first symptoms.
