From October 5, Moscow schools will be closed for a two-week vacation due to COVID-19

By Monday morning, another 2,217 new cases of infection had been identified, which was the highest figure since 2

June.

The holidays were established by an amendment to another Sobyanin decree, by which on June 8 he began to lift the restrictive measures introduced in Moscow to combat the coronavirus.

The mayor reported that from 5 to 18 October:

  • institutions of additional education and children's leisure organizations will suspend work;
  • there will be no distance learning during the holidays;
  • kindergartens (preschool groups) will continue to work as usual.

Sobyanin also added that “in order toto avoid unnecessary contacts and not expose children to the risk of disease,” the Moscow government will also suspend the work of additional education institutions and children’s leisure organizations for two weeks. However, there will be no distance learning during the holidays.

However, schoolchildren will be able to repeat what they have passed and study new material at will with the help of the Moscow Electronic School, the mayor said.
