Business Insider reports that someusers see a significant increase in data usage after upgrading to iOS 9. Twitter user Jim Ray points out that he saw an increase in data usage of up to 7GB from 1-2GB after upgrading to iOS 9, and he suspects this is due to the WiFi Assist feature (Help with Wi-Fi).

If you notice that your device is using up your mobile data excessively, then the Wi-Fi Assist feature is probably to blame. Here's how you can turn it off.
Fortunately, the process is simple and takes only a couple of steps:

- OpenSettingsand presscellular.
- At the very bottom of the sectioncellulardisable “Wi-Fi Assist”.
That's all! With the Wi-Fi assistant turned off, your iPhone will not automatically switch to a 3G or 4G network. However, you can still use 3G and 4G networks when you are far from a Wi-Fi network.
