Ukrainian specialists have finalized the MIM-104 Patriot software so that the system can track and destroy Russian hypersonic missiles

The day before, we wrote that Raytheon will increase production of MIM-104 Patriot and PAC-3 interceptors, and Ukraine received five more

batteries of anti-aircraft missile systems. This is stated in an article by The Wall Street Journal. However, there is another interesting statement in the material.

What is known

Raytheon was pleased with how the AirUkrainian forces use American air defense systems. Moreover, the head of the company, Gregory J. Hayes, said that Ukrainian specialists were able to refine the MIM-104 Patriot software so that the complex could track and destroy Russian hypersonic missiles.

Raytheon CEO noted thatMIM-104 Patriot in Ukraine intercepts missiles traveling twice as fast as intended. What changes were made to the software, no one specifies.

Last month, 7 out of 7 were shot down over Kievhypersonic missiles Kh-47M2. Perhaps this is due to the fact that this rocket is hypersonic only on paper. In fact, this is an ordinary Iskander ballistic missile, which is launched from a MiG-31K fighter. After entering the atmosphere, its speed drops to the level of ballistic missiles.
