Scientists have made solar panels that "adapt" to different lighting

Researchers have developed a dye that changes color when exposed to light.

In 2014 we worked on creatingorganic dyes in order to apply them in  solar cell systems (DSSC) with Solaronix, to create integrated photovoltaic cells. One of our developments was installed on the facade of the EPFL conference center.

New solar panels at the same timeenergy efficient and transparent, so they can be placed on windows. The color of the panel can change several times throughout the day. This feature allows solar energy to be collected during the day and filter less light that passes through the panels when evening or early morning arrives.

Researchers have determined that the transparency of newThe battery ranged from 60 to 27% depending on the intensity of sunlight. Transparency decreases during bright light and rises in the dark. Thanks to this, the efficiency of the panels increased by 4.17%.
