Scientists want to create scintillators, one of theThe most promising, in their opinion, will be multicomponent glasses with a high content of rare earth ions. Let us recall that scintillators are substances that emit visible light when charged particles enter them.
New technology for producing scintillatorscan make it possible to obtain them from available multicomponent glasses with a light yield of about 60% relative to bismuth orthogermanate crystals (Bi4Ge3O12) common on the market today.
Multicomponent amorphous systems have a highdissolving ability in relation to rare-earth ions, which makes it possible to create an optical material with high transparency and moisture resistance. The achieved level of 63.9% of the integral scintillation efficiency relative to crystalline analogs allows us to hope that such glasses will find wider application in optoelectronics in the future.

The results of the work can be used forproduction of highly efficient radiation systems and detectors of ionizing radiation, as well as fiber-optic detectors with spatial resolution. Thanks to new technology, the production process can be significantly reduced in cost.
