France tested the upgraded Leclerc XLR tank to test the firing capabilities of the 120-mm gun

The French Army Procurement Agency tested the Leclerc tank, which is undergoing

modernization under the XLR program. The purpose of the tests was to test the gun's capabilities.

Upgraded Leclerc XLR, like the regularversion of the main battle tank, equipped with a 120 mm smoothbore gun with 40 rounds of ammunition. However, the upgrade brought a new fire control system.

The Leclerc XLR has increased combat power andhigh level of mobility. It can be used in different combat scenarios. The upgrade added an automated control system that allows you to exchange information with other tanks on the battlefield.

120 mm smoothbore gunhit targets at a distance of up to 4000 meters. The arsenal of the tank also has additional weapons. It consists of a coaxial 12.7 mm machine gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun.

France wants to integrate the Leclerc XLR into its overall automated command and control system. This process takes place as part of the SCORPION army rearmament program.

So far, 122 out of 222 tanks are subject to modernization. During 2023, France intends to improve at least 18 combat vehicles. The entire Leclerc modernization program will last until 2025.
