They want to issue fines of up to 15 million rubles to those who refuse to delete prohibited information

As follows from the explanatory note, requirements to eliminate illegal data are often violated in

mainly by large foreign Internet companies that find it difficult to force them to do this. According to the authors, the new bill should “eliminate the existing legal gap.”

In particular, under new obligationswill hit  large Internet resources registered outside of Russia. So, as of April of this year, there are 20 thousand cases where company representatives refuse to delete information, in particular services: YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. 

So, an administrative fine for an individualwill be from 50 thousand rubles. up to 100 thousand rubles, for officials - from 200 thousand rubles to 400 thousand rubles, and for legal entities - from 800 thousand to 4 million rubles.

If the offense was committed again,then the fines increase to 100-200 thousand rubles, 500-800 thousand rubles and 4 million-8 million rubles, respectively. The most severe sanctions will be imposed for failure to remove information containing calls for extremism, pornographic images of minors, or data on methods of acquiring, manufacturing or using drugs: here you can get up to 15 million rubles. 

These measures do not apply to cases of restricting access and deleting information distributed in violation of copyright and (or) related rights, is specified in the explanatory note.
