Experiment "VKontakte" will train AI to recognize insults in comments

Platform administrators will be able to enable a special filter for hostile speech in the community settings. As for commentators, they will see a proposal to refuse offensive remarks. Both tools operate on the basis of algorithms, including a neural network that recognizes insults.

Today, November 4, for a day, during whichthere will be an experiment on the introduction of new algorithms, in the community settings it will be possible to enable the filter of hostile statements. Neural network delete comments that contain direct threats to human life and health. However, the administrator will see all comments that the filter has rejected. He will have a choice - to restore deleted replicas or send the author to the blacklist of the community. It should be said that the new, experimental hate speech filter can be turned on or off at any time.

The platform’s neural network continues to learn and develop. As noted on VKontakte, the results of the experiment will be used for further training and improvement of the filter’s performance.

A similar function is already available in many social networks.For example, Instagram recognizes a hostile comment and, before the user publishes it, the platform prompts the user to unsubscribe, warning that the offensive content may be removed.
