Digital Foundry experts conducted an analysis of the technical condition of Diablo IV on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series consoles.
What
Known
Experts noted that developers fromBlizzard has done a great job of optimizing the game for consoles. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, Diablo IV impresses with its graphics and visuals. Thanks to the high detail, each object looks beautiful and realistic.
Most of all, Digital Foundry experts were pleased withthe play of light and shadow in Diablo IV. Thanks to the many small light sources, each location in the action RPG looks unique and atmospheric, even despite the lack of ray tracing and other similar technologies in the game.
From a technical point of view, it can be statedthat on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series Diablo IV runs at an internal resolution of approximately 1260p (it was not possible to determine exactly), however, using FSR 2 technology, the resolution is converted to 4K.
On the Series S console, the native resolution of 864p is converted to 1440p, and the graphics are as good as more powerful devices.
On PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S, Diablo IV runs consistently at 60 FPS, with the exception of occasional performance drops, but staged cutscenes only play at 30 FPS.
On the PlayStation 4 console, as expected, the game is lessimpressive than on modern devices. The frame rate does not exceed 30 FPS, but this indicator is not stable and its drops are often recorded. On this platform, the game runs at 720p, which is upconverted to 1080p.
In general, it is quite possible to play Diablo IV on previous generation consoles, but in this case the game is not so technologically advanced and detailed.
As for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, Digital Foundry experts acknowledged that the game is in excellent condition.
