French President Emmanuel Macron wants the country to become a leader in artificial intelligence.

Macron announced the allocation of 500 million euros ($543million) to "create champions" in AI and praised French-language projects. The president is concerned that Silicon Valley firms are fueling English-speaking dominance in artificial intelligence systems.
The head of France also called on the European Union to pass the AI Law as soon as possible. However, he cautioned against regulation without investment.
“The worst case scenario would be Europe, which invests much less than the US and China, but starts by creating regulation. This scenario is possible, but I would not support it,” Macron said.
