A Japanese company wants to create a floating city, Dogen City, 4 km in diameter for 40,000 people with its own spaceport for rockets and spaceships

The Japanese company N-Ark presented a very ambitious project of a floating city with its own spaceport.

It's called Dogen City.

What is known

N-Ark says the city can survivesea level rise due to climate change. At the same time, the round shape will withstand harsh weather conditions, including tsunamis, which are not uncommon off the Japanese coast.

Dogen City, with a diameter of about 4 km, is designed to simultaneously accommodate 40,000 people (10,000 permanent residents and 30,000 tourists). It will consist of three zones:

  • underwater data center;
  • habitat ring (residential area);
  • bay with floating structures.

In addition to its own launch padrockets and spaceships, the city will have schools, food production, hospitals, hotels, a stadium, parks and other facilities. Dogen City will generate 22,265 MW of electricity and produce approximately 7,000 tons of food. How exactly electricity generation will be ensured is still unknown.

According to the calculations of the Japanese company, fresh water consumption will be approximately 2 million liters / year. We also need to solve the problem of waste – almost 3,300 tons of garbage will have to be removed annually.

N-Ark believes the project could be operational by the end of this decade. At the same time, there is no information either about where the city will appear, or about how much money will be required to create it.
