What is known
The reason for this decision by the FAA was a large-scale failurein Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM). This is a system that, by means of telecommunications, sends notices about the status or change of aeronautical equipment and rules, as well as information about danger.
Flights were suspended until 16:00 (EET).Due to this FAA decision, a total of 103 flights were canceled and 1,230 were delayed. At 15:50 (EET), the regulator announced the gradual resumption of normal air traffic throughout the United States.
Update 5:Normal air traffic operations are resuming gradually across the U.S. following an overnight outage to the Notice to Air Missions system that provides safety info to flight crews. The ground stop has been lifted.
