Uber recently wrote that their hack was probablycarried out by the LAPSUS$ group. The hacker group has been linked to numerous attacks on major companies including Microsoft and Samsung, and the group has even infiltrated US law enforcement databases, according to reports.
Keyes wrote that both the London police and,perhaps the FBI will provide more details soon. Little else is known about the detainee, although previous Bloomberg reports have noted that cybersecurity researchers traced a series of hacks linked to the LAPSUS$ teenage hacker group to a 17-year-old who lived at his mother's home near Oxford. The report also notes that this teenager was apparently involved with another young man from Brazil.
In April, the London police announced the arresttwo more teenagers associated with LAPSUS$, but that hasn't stopped the group from moving in and attacking big tech companies and governments at an accelerated rate. Not only do they see data theft as reward enough, LAPSUS$ hackers taunt their victims through internal messengers, through Slack, and even join Zoom calls to taunt people trying to repair the damage done by the attacks, writes Bloomberg.
