5G does not want to be introduced not only in Russia, but also in other countries: why is this happening

The spread of the fifth generation of cellular communications - 5G - is slowing down not only in Russia, but throughout the world.

This is especially observed in other European countries, India and China. Discuss

The reason is the lack of fiber optics.cables, which, in turn, is due to a shortage of critical components, in particular helium, due to plant downtime in Russia and the United States. Moreover, against the backdrop of a shortage, there was an increase in demand for fiber optic cables and 5G technologies.

At the same time, there is also a price increase of 70% - from$3.7 to $6.3. The situation was initially affected by the coronavirus: the largest telecommunications companies had to slow down the development of infrastructure, in addition, the sharp demand for Internet services and 5G increased the shortage of equipment.

“Given that the cost of deploying suddenlydoubled, questions are now being raised about whether countries can meet the targets set for building infrastructure and whether this could affect global connectivity,” said Michael Finch, an analyst at Cru consultancy. He noted that demand for fiber optic cables increased by 8.1% in the first half of the year.
