7,000 km in one flight: the airline will replace aircraft with hybrid airships

Spanish airline Air Nostrum has become the first airline to book 100-seat helium airships.

They produce one-tenth the emissions of jet aircraft, the British airship manufacturer says.

A Hybrid Air Vehicles spokesman told AFP,that Air Nostrum has signed an agreement to lease 10 Airlander hybrid helium airships. Their delivery is scheduled for 2026, the contract value exceeds $600 million.

The Spanish regional carrier aims to becomeHAV's first customer, and diversify its domestic fleet by using Airlander on domestic routes. In turn, the British group will create 1,800 jobs at its facility in South Yorkshire, northern England, when it starts production later this year.

A hybrid ship that looks like twoglued airship, there is a body filled with helium. It will be powered by a hybrid of electric and fuel engines, and by 2030 it will be completely electric.

The Airlander can stay in the air for five days and travel at a maximum speed of 130 km/h and has a range of more than 7,000 km.
