A British engineer created a robot that hits a player every time he misses a beat in a VR game.

Robotics engineer James Bruton, together with students from the University of Portsmouth, created

an unusual robot whose sole purpose is to beat people.

How does it work

Bruton's creation can be called immersivecompanion for VR games. All parts of the machine were 3D printed, with the exception of the wooden platform on which it is installed. His main tools for dealing with “meatbags” are pneumatic fists and boxing gloves. All robot movements are synchronized with the Vive Tracker module and a custom-developed fighting game. Every time a player misses a shot in the game, he misses it in reality with all the ensuing consequences. You can see the robot in action below (the battle itself starts at 10:50)
