Brave was the first major browser to add support for the IPFS protocol.
The nodes of the IPFS network form a distributed filesystem. That is, users can download content from a decentralized network rather than from a single server. The URLs for these sites start with ipfs: //. It is believed that the technology will replace HTTP in the future. Brave users can now access IPFS resources directly. This feature was introduced in the browser version starting with release 1.19.
As noted by the CTO co-founder of Brave, the integration of IPFS with an open-source browser is an important step towards increasing the transparency, decentralization and sustainability of the Internet.
Thanks to IPFS, people can, for example, access Wikipedia where it was blocked (in particular, in Turkey).
