A meteorite exploded over Norway: its fragments will be searched for 10 years

On the night of Sunday, July 25, a large meteorite fell in southern Norway. Because of the flash from him

burning the surroundings for a few secondswere brightly lit. According to Euronews, the speed of its fall reached 20 km/s. Residents noticed his fall at about 1:00 local time (2:00 Moscow time). Eyewitnesses published footage of the flash as the meteorite passed through the atmosphere.

The roar of the meteor frightened the inhabitants of Norway, many turned to the emergency services. At the same time, the police say that there are no reports of injuries or injuries yet.

Norwegian Meteor Network (Norwegian MeteorNetwork, NMN), a group that monitors meteor activity in the country, analyzed footage of the extraterrestrial visitor's trajectory to determine where it landed. According to experts, it is located somewhere in the forests of the Finnemark region, located 60 km from Oslo.

NMN has already started searching for meteor fragments. Experts say that, given the hard-to-reach location somewhere in the middle of the forest, it can take up to 10 years to find any meteorite fragments.
