A patented method for measuring the main mirrors of telescopes

The Rostec State Corporation reported that Shvabe holding specialists have developed a solution,

which will allow measuring the shape of the main mirrors of large telescopes.

The new solution relates to synthesizedhologram optical elements (HOE), they are used in control and measuring equipment. The solution can be used to control the shape of large concave optical surfaces, which are found in the largest observatories.

This technical solution allows you to significantlyto reduce the light diameter of the axial synthesized holographic optical element and thereby open up the possibility of monitoring the entire working surface of large-sized mirrors at once, regardless of their size.

The new development will make it possible in the future to create control and measuring equipment for the construction of ground-based and space-based telescopes.

The development will make it possible to measure the shape of the main mirrors of large-size ground-based and space-based telescopes during their manufacture and certification.
