Automotive startup Aptera Motors has created a three-wheeled solar-powered electric vehicle. For development
The goal of Aptera Motors engineers is to createtwo-seat three-wheeled solar-electric vehicle. The car overcomes up to 65 km per day without recharging. As the developers assure, in the future the prototype will be improved, and the Gamma will travel 1,600 km without being connected to the mains. This will be possible thanks to an efficient transmission, aerodynamic design and the use of lightweight composite materials.
By the end of 2021, the company has completedalpha testing and began preparing for the development of models for beta testing. At the end of March this year, they were allowed to be tested in real driving situations. Already in August, Aptera presented the interior design of the future solar-powered electric car.
Aptera released the details last monthabout the latest vehicle, including a detailed look at the minimalist interior. The model is equipped with a steering wheel, various instruments, a central display for driving, multimedia and navigation digital cameras. They replace the rear view mirror and complement the traditional exterior side mirrors. It also features more head/leg/hip room than previous designs.
The Gamma prototype is the final step before full-scale production of the car series at a new facility in Carlsbad, California next year.
To date, Aptera has raised over 30,000orders and signed partnership agreements with several companies: Elaphe (for electric motors); battery supplier Eve Energy; RedViking, which is engaged in industrial production technologies, and others.
At the beginning of the 2000s, the Aptera Motors startup was Accelerated Composites. It ran out of funds in 2011 and was relaunched a few years ago.
