A sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. sold at auction for $ 660,000

An anonymous seller at Heritage Auctions gave away a still-sealed Super Mario Bros. game. for $660,000.

13 people took part in the auction, and the owner of the gamereceived $550,000. This copy was one of the first shrink-wrapped versions of the game available for purchase in the United States. According to the seller, he bought the game back in 1986 as a Christmas gift, but simply forgot about it and only found it by chance in early 2021:

"The game has been in my office desk drawer since the day I bought it."

This copy scores 9.6 out of 10 on the scaleof WATA Games quality, marked "exceptional" and in "near mint condition". Just last year, video game expert Valarie McLeckie said that the number of sealed copies available today is very limited and can be counted on one hand.
