Specialists from the NTI Competence Center took part in the creation of a service for the development of viral vectors,
Viral vectors are used as a meansdelivery of genetic material into cells. This method is necessary when creating drugs for the treatment of complex and rare genetic diseases, for example, spinal muscular atrophy.
“Researchers from the NTI Competence Center atBased at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, they have developed a domestic technology for creating viral vectors that can become a tool for delivering genetic material into cells for the treatment of rare diseases. On its basis, the first Russian service for the production and purification of recombinant adeno-associated viral particles was created. Previously, Russian scientists ordered these compounds abroad.”

The technology for producing viral particles is based on the technological process of creating a virus in cell culture, followed by purification and concentration.
Modern targeted drugs, as alreadyas mentioned above, they are based on the technology of delivering the "genetic load" directly to the desired cells. Researchers are looking for genes that can control the function of cells "responsible" for certain diseases.
