A six-legged robot has appeared that walks and grabs objects with each limb

The robot can not only move, but also manipulate objects. According to the authors, today the demand for

flexible robots that easily grabobjects and move with them. If the robot has legs, then it will need an additional arm to move objects - this design increases the cost, is less efficient and is not flexible enough.

Therefore, the authors of the new paper presented a design based on a limb mechanism that is equipped with various end effectors to improve performance.

The team notes that manipulation duringmovement is a good way to increase efficiency and gain time. The new robot was called ALLOMAN hexapod, thanks to the integration of legs and arms, the robot can manipulate objects mobile.

So far ALLOMAN hexapod is experimentalprototype. At the next stage of work, the authors are going to introduce more functions for manipulation into it. The authors plan to use their development in areas where multifunctional platforms are needed, for example, to ensure the security of the city, the fight against terrorism and planetary exploration.
