A “smart”jacket has been developed to protect against accidents

The largest American car manufacturer Ford has developed a unique “smart” jacket that

aimed at reducing the number of accidents on the roads. Thus, the new Ford jacket is equipped with a screen located on the back, allowing cyclists to notify drivers of their intentions.

Smart outerwear was developed under the auspices of the Share the Road program, the key task of which is to increase communication methods between riders and cyclists during traffic.

The back of the jacket is equipped with an LEDa cage controlled by a wireless remote control that can be placed on the handlebars of a bicycle. Thus, thanks to the controller, the cyclist can broadcast one of six emoji on the jacket, including a right arrow, a left arrow, a danger sign, and finally several types of emoticon. The company is reported to have no intention of commercializing the jacket at this stage, but does Ford have plans to do so in the future – not disclosed.
