A technology has been developed for creating a 3D model of a face using one smartphone

Specialists from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh have developed technology to create a 3D model

faces using one smartphone. Usually, special equipment with many cameras is used for such purposes.

To create a 3D model of a person’s face using new technology, you need to shoot it on video from all sides. To do this, you need to go around the model. And do it in 15-20 seconds.

After that, the algorithms are taken for work. They separate the person’s face from the background and convert a two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional. All this technology takes time - from 30 to 40 minutes.

The system has already been tested on the iPhone X. Experts also used shooting in slow-mo. Thanks to this, they were able to get a larger number of frames.
