A virus masquerading as a system update has been detected on Android

Mobile device security specialists from Zimperium have found a device masquerading as a system

Android virus update.

The virus enters with the application underthe name System Update, which can be installed from outside the app store. After the virus software has been installed on the smartphone, it communicates with the Firebase server, which is necessary for remote control of the device. Subsequently, data from the user's device begins to be quietly sent to the servers. The capabilities of the virus are multifaceted: stealing messages, smartphone data, browser bookmarks, search history, recording calls and sounds from a microphone. Plus, it can even take photos and track geolocation.

According to sources, it is difficult to detect virus software on a device because it hides from the user, while reducing the amount of consumed network data.
