We are talking about RQ-20B Puma drones. The US Army has signed a contract with defense company AeroVironment to supply additional unmanned aerial vehicles. The transaction value was $86.4 million.
According to the US Department of Defense,only one company took part in the online tender for the supply of long-range unmanned aerial systems. Work under the new contract will be carried out at the Californian company AeroVironment. Deadline - September 2023.
The RQ-20B Puma is a small unmannedaviation system for tactical reconnaissance, surveillance, reconnaissance and maritime patrols. The drone has a wingspan of 2.8 meters. The UAV is equipped with an electro-optical/infrared camera and a geolocation sensor.
Puma can reach speeds of up to 46.3 km/h (25 knots) and climb to a height of about 150 meters. The maximum flight duration is approximately 180 minutes.
