AI based on the old NVIDIA Jetson TX2 left no chance for a man in aerial drone combat - the fight lasted 90 seconds

Artificial intelligence will play a big role in future military conflicts. Chinese specialists have already

are working on creating an invincible neural network that will control aircraft.

What is known

Recently, scientists from the China Research and Development Centerdevelopments in the field of aerodynamics of the Research Institute of the People's Liberation Army conducted an air battle on unmanned aerial vehicles. Two drones participated in the fight. One was controlled by artificial intelligence, and the other by an experienced pilot via radio.

The on-board computer of the first UAV was built on the basis ofplatform NVIDIA Jetson TX2, which appeared back in 2017. At that time, China was not under the sanctions of the United States, so getting such a platform was not difficult.

Chinese scientists could not enjoy the fight into the full extent, because after a minute and a half after the start it had to be interrupted. The reason was the total dominance of a drone with artificial intelligence as an operator.

The combat pilot tried to maneuver, usetricks and demonstrated all his skill. But it did not help. The neural network easily predicted all the actions of an experienced pilot and each time found itself in a more advantageous position.
