AI Dungeon is out on Steam, a text-based quest where powerful AI invents your adventure on the go

The AI Dungeon project first became available in December 2019 and attracted attention due to its advanced

artificial intelligence - it generated coherent text adventures, where you could perform any actions by typing them in the input window. AI Dungeon is now available on Steam.

The gameplay looks like text quests from the 1970s:they write to you what is happening, and you write what you are going to do. But if the quests of the 1970s only accepted hard-limited answers, then the AI Dungeon tries to adjust by all means what you enter. You only need to specify the type of input: action, word, or event.

AI Dungeon also allows you to generate a world, fill it with details of your choice or plunge into the worlds of other players. In addition, you can control the course of the incident: force II to create a paragraph again, or even completely rewrite it manually. Incidents allow you to play with friends.

The results are interesting: AI Dungeon was quick to move around the launch area, as it could generate a story about a detective with laser eyes or a musical battle with Celine Dion.

Previously, AI Dungeon only worked through the browseror mobile phones. There it is distributed free-to-play, limits the number of actions and/or displays ads. The Steam version is paid, but the restrictions have been lifted there, and there are no ads.

True, the first reviews of the game are sad – 44%at the time of writing the news. Many negative reviews are due to the fact that in the USA and Europe they ask for $30 or €25 for AI Dungeon - they say, the bonuses of the paid version are not worth that amount. In addition, only Griffin model II is connected to Steam - the simplest (but also the fastest) available. The developers have more advanced II models, but are open to those who sign up for a paid subscription to the free-to-play version. Microtransactions are disabled on Steam.
