AI from Google learned to detect breast cancer more precisely than doctors

The creation and training of the neural network was carried out by Deep Mind engineers in collaboration with the Cancer Research UK Imperial Center,

American University Northwestern University and Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Scientists used the base to learn the algorithmbiopsy images of 25,000 patients at the University of Nijmegen Medical Center in the Netherlands, as well as several British and American hospitals.

During the tests, the algorithm allowed to reduce the number of false-positive results by 5.7% and 1.2% in American and British hospitals, respectively.

“These data show that our modelartificial intelligence identified breast cancer based on screening mammography results with greater accuracy and fewer false positives and false negatives than experts.”
