Humanity is likely to pass the internationally agreed climate change threshold

Research published in the journalProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences raises the question of whether it is possible to limit global warming to 1.5°C, as envisaged by the 2015 Paris climate agreement. The goal of the treaty is to minimize the devastating effects of climate change. According to scientists, the planet has already warmed by 1.1–1.2 °C since pre-industrial times, or the mid-19th century.

Climate scientists using machinetraining, calculated that the Earth will exceed the 1.5 °C mark between 2033 and 2035 (in 10–12 years). The new results are consistent with other, more traditional forecasting methods.
