Airbus introduced a flight model of a mixed-wing aircraft

“Mixed wing” is a variation of the “flying wing” scheme, in which the aircraft is a similar

triangle. This design involves connecting the body and wing close to the cockpit.

It is planned that the load capacity of the “mixed wing” is approximately 15% greater than that of aircraft of similar sizes, made according to the traditional aviation design.

The new aircraft was called MAVERIC. Its length is only 2 m, and the wingspan is 3.2 m. The total area of the liner is 2.25 square meters. m, it will consume about 20% less fuel than a regular plane of the same size.

It is planned that flight tests of the device will be completed before the end of the second quarter of 2020.
