Algorithm has discovered a new mysterious layer inside the Earth

Scientists from the Australian National University (ANU) have discovered a mysterious new layer at the center of the planet -

they called it the "innermost core" of the Earth.Researchers suggest that it can be used to study the history of our planet. The layer extends at a distance of approximately 650 km from the center of the Earth.

For the first time, the theory of the existence of the fifth layer wasproposed by geologists several decades ago, but before that it was not possible to find it. New research has uncovered evidence by analyzing changes in seismic waves traveling through our planet's core.

The team used a search algorithm tocomparing thousands of inner core models with seismic travel times. They found changes in the structure of iron about 650 km from the center of the Earth, indicating the presence of an additional layer.

“We have found evidence that may indicateon a change in the structure of iron, which suggests, perhaps, two separate events of cooling in the history of the Earth, "- noted the researchers. They added that further analysis could deepen our understanding of the evolution of the Earth.

Most geologists now claim that the Earth has four layers: crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. Until that time, it was impossible to detect the fifth layer.
