All IKEA stores in Russia will switch to solar panels

Information has appeared online that the owner of IKEA and MEGA intends to transfer all Russian stores to

energy obtained from solar panels.

For these purposes, Ingka Investments, the investment arm of the Ingka Group, which owns IKEA and a chain of shopping centers, acquired a 49% stake in eight solar parks in Russia. Inc. Russia writes that the total amount of the transaction has reached 21 billion rubles.

The total energy capacity of the parks is160 MW. This should be enough to provide green energy to all 17 IKEA stores in Russia. Moreover, it will even be left to support the "vital activity" of a part of the MEGA shopping centers.

At the moment there is no exact date when the project will be fully implemented.
