A new patent has indicated that Samsung is working on a rather interesting facial recognition system. It includes
The system is described in a patent application that Samsung filed with the Korean Patent Office KIPRIS back in March 2021. The document in question was published last week.
At its core, the idea is quite simple - getseveral images of the user from two angles to better build a 3D model of the face and use it for authentication. The patent emphasizes that the cameras are located under the display, which is interesting in itself. So far, the company has been experimenting with under-display technology on the Galaxy Fold line. Therefore, we can assume that the dual camera will appear in folding devices.

Placement under the display stems fromthe need to space the two cameras as far as possible to get two different angles of view. For example, one camera might be located at the bottom of the phone and another at the top.
