Amazon sued in the UK£900 million ($1 billion) in damages over allegations that the online marketplace was abusing its dominant position in favor of its own products.

Consumer advocate Julie Hunter plansfile a class-action lawsuit on behalf of UK consumers who have shopped on Amazon since October 2016, lawyers representing her said.
Law firm Hausfeld, which representsHunter, said Amazon violated competition law by using a "secret and self-beneficial algorithm" to promote your own products through the "Buy Box" function on your website. Hunter said in a statement: "Far from being a recommendation based on price or quality, Buy Box." favors products sold by Amazon itself or by retailers that pay Amazon for logistics.
