An Australian company has developed a smart system for forgetful parents

The security system proposed by the Australian startup includes three components: a key fob, a block

control, which is installed in the cabinmachine, and a capacitive sensor. The key fob records the distance from the control unit. When the driver moves more than 10 meters away from the car, the system checks whether someone is sitting in a child seat. If a child is left in the car, the control unit sends a signal in the ISM range. The key fob begins to flash and vibrate.

Infalut notes that up to four capacity sensors can be connected to one control unit. This ensures the safety of all children, including those in a large family.

The problem of children left in the car, especiallyrelevant for countries with hot climates. In Australia, several thousand children are found every year in cars at risk of dying from hyperthermia. According to the website KidsAndCars.org, in 2021 alone, 23 children died in the United States from being forgotten in a car. David Diamond, professor of psychology at the University of South Florida, in his study showed that the cause of these tragedies is not bad parents, but physiology, systemic errors in our memory.

Diamond says we have a "prospectivememory", the one that stores information about the planned actions. “When we perform routine activities, for example, we drive one of the usual routes, we are controlled by the autopilot. In this situation, only prospective memory can remind you of the need to perform a non-standard action, Diamond points out. - Any distracting event, general fatigue or stress can lead to loss of information in memory. Moreover, some parents have the false impression that they dropped the child off, for example, at the school, although in fact he remained in the car.”
