NASA's Perseverance rover has photographed a shiny silvery object sandwiched between two rocks on the bottom
According to the rover's team, this space junknot from Mars, perhaps Perseverance brought it from Earth. “One of our theories is that it could be a piece of thermal blanket that was part of the descent stage — the rocket-powered jetpack that deflated the device in 2021,” the Perseverance team notes.

These aerial images of the item also help engineers assess the effectiveness and condition of the back cover and parachute, which could help design future missions to Mars, NASA officials said.
Perseverance looks for signs of ancient life on Marsand collects samples for their subsequent return to Earth. According to members of the mission team, Jezero had a lake and a river delta billions of years ago, so this is a great place for such work.
The rover took many interesting photos, which do not show scraps of his own protective equipment. Over the weekend, for example, Perseverance took a memorable shot from the Jezero Delta, showing a balancing boulder and a rock that looks strikingly like an open-mouthed snake's head.
