Mat Piscatella from NPD Group, Dr. Serkan Totofrom Kantan Games and Piers Harding-Rolls from Ampere Analysis told Gamesindustry.biz that the Switch will continue to outsell Sony and Microsoft consoles.
According to Piscatella, the marketing departmentand Nintendo exclusive games will be the main driver of console sales. At the same time, the analyst does not bet on the possible release of Switch Pro, rumors about which have been roaming the Internet since the beginning of 2020.
“Despite the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, it is the Nintendo Switch that will ultimately show the best sales of consoles in 2021,” explained Mat Piscatella.
At the same time, Serkan Toto from Kantan Games, on the contrary, believes that Switch Pro will be released in 2021 and will seriously increase sales of Nintendo consoles:
“Anyone who expects Switch to fizzle out in 2021year, bitter disappointment awaits. The Switch will remain this year's top-selling console, thanks to more third-party games, hardware upgrades and the device becoming a mainstream product, continuing its trajectory in 2020."
Ampere Analysis analyst is also confident of successSwitch, projecting 24 million units sold throughout 2021. At the same time, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will sell a total of 25 million units, Pierce believes.
