The Americas was the last continent inhabited by humans, researchers from Atlantic University
New study suggests ancient humansfirst colonized the eastern part of the mainland - the areas surrounding the Andes from the Pacific coast. Then they moved to the Lagoa Santa area in southeastern Brazil. From where migration developed in two directions to the south towards Uruguay and to the north of Brazil towards Panama.

Primary colonization ended about a thousand years ago, when a migratory route about 5.2 thousand km long, running along the Atlantic coast, connected Uruguay and Panama.
The study confirmed the presence of Neanderthal genes in ancient inhabitants of South America. In addition, scientists have discovered strong Australian genetic signals and traces of Denisovan people.
Between Australasia and America stretches the entirePacific Ocean, and we still don't know how these ancestral genomic signals appeared in Central and South America without leaving traces in North America.
