And this happens: a device for communication ... with potatoes was brought to CES 2020

The CES 2020 consumer electronics exhibition brings not only advanced technologies and innovative

products. There are also quite strange but funny projects. Like, for example, the world’s first “smart” potato.

What kind of game

This project was presented at CES 2020 by the guys from the French startup BPZ Labs. They decided that someone would want to interact with a potato, so they developed a device to do just that.

A special board is inserted inside the root vegetableand using a Bluetooth chip it connects to a smartphone. After this, the system allegedly reads the “thoughts” of the potato and transmits them to the gadget’s screen. Of course, these are actually pre-prepared phrases.

At the same time, the board works autonomously and does not needpower supply. More precisely, it is powered by the vegetable itself: metals are used as electrodes, so the potato itself generates an electric current of the required power. If a vegetable runs out of energy, the device can be inserted into another root vegetable. This does not require much effort or special technical knowledge.

How many?

Such a “smart” gadget costs $34. It can also be ordered on Indiegogo for €26. At the same time, at CES 2020, the stand with potatoes attracted a lot of onlookers.
