Samsung is a pioneer in the foldable smartphone market, thanks in part to its proprietary

division of Samsung Display, whichis developing OLED panels. In addition to their own needs, the Koreans satisfy the needs of many of their competitors, including the main – Apple. However, it has rivals in this area, including China's BOE, which is also involved in folding technology. This makes Korean media reports even more strange that Samsung is negotiating with BOE on the supply of displays that will be used in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. There are no details on these agreements yet, but what is known is that cooperation may be extended and up to the sixth generation Galaxy Z.

Samsung declined to comment on the information onto its unannounced gadgets, however, she mentioned that cooperation with BOE takes place as part of the diversification of supplies from partners. The true motives for replacing their own panels with Chinese ones are unknown. As options, one can assume a trite saving of resources or a desire to direct their production resources to meet the demand of partners, in particular, Apple and Google, which are expected to present their first folding devices in 2023-2024. In general, Chinese screens are increasingly finding their way into popular smartphone models (OnePlus Ace 2 and Realme GT Neo 5, for example, use Tianma), and BOE is a flagship in this regard, the quality of which suits not only Samsung, but also Apple.
