Announcement of Eben T12m Pro: premium mini-tablet with 5G and microUSB from China

The Chinese company Eben, if known to anyone, is only thanks to its sub-brand 8848, under which

luxury smartphones are produced. However, even before the advent of the 8848, Eben was producing tablets whose target audience was businessmen. Soon after the start of the pandemic, nothing was heard about Eben: there were no new 8848 for three years, and the range of tablets almost ceased to be replenished. However, the company recently introduced a new product - the premium tablet Eben T12m Pro with a very unusual design and an equally strange set of technical characteristics.

The screen of the Eben T12m Pro is small – 7.86″,2048x1536 pixels, IPS. However, due to the huge frames, it would be hard to call the tablet compact (208 x 152.9 x 8.8 mm). There are two cameras (12 MP main and 5 MP front) and a 6600 mAh battery with support for 18 W charging via microUSB connector (!!!). Specifications also include a headphone jack, a fingerprint scanner, a microSD slot and 5G support provided by the UniSoC Tanggula T740 chipset - the worst of all 5G-enabled smartphone chips. Software-wise, the tablet is based on Android 10 with a proprietary shell made in the style of Android 3.

Despite modest hardware, it costs Eben T12m Provery expensive: 5580 yuan (68,700 rubles) for a single modification of 8 + 256 GB. True, the kit includes a stylus with support for 4096 pressure levels and a leather case with a business card holder, which should justify the cost somewhat. Apparently, the main audience of Eben T12m Pro will be a large Chinese business; the company offers customization services for its tablets to meet the requirements of corporate and government customers. Let's hope that after Eben, 8848 will come to life, moreover, with a more adequate product than the T12m Pro.
